Improved Design

I did a bit of early morning design work with a complementary color scheme based on the light green that was so prominent in the original. Also started adding some more elements to make things a bit more lively.

New Domain Name
Posted by oakie on July 21, 2008 at 12:27 PM
I've set up a new domain name for the Bookworm site: http://www.bookworm.me/
The old URL, blog and RSS feeds will continue to function.
German Translation
Posted by oakie on June 30, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Ok, I've actually managed to get most of the website translated into German. Only exception remains the Create & Publish section, which is soon to follow.
A French version is also in the works.
I've also started a collaborative story for anyone who feels inspired to continue writing. It's titled The Epic Caper and it sets two unlikely characters up to start on a doomed caper. What kind of caper? Why don't you help me decide (although I already have some ideas.)
Stories and Features Galore
Posted by oakie on June 23, 2008 at 09:04 AM
Alright, the site has been up more or less stable for a couple of weeks now. On the features front, I'm still working on a number of improvements. For one, I've started with French and German translations of the interface. Also, I'll soon (re)integrate friend and messaging functionality, which have been switched off for the time being. They will be available in the profile view of each user.
Moreover, now that the site is up, I've started raking my brains for some story ideas for everyone to partake in to kick-start things and get things rolling. My Ruby Railway Adventure story will soon reach its first dramatic plot twist and I've come up with a few collaborative story ideas that everyone can continue. Keep an eye out for them and start posting your own passages.
Of course, don't hesitate to start writing your own stories. Remember, you can write stories in private on the site first and publish them later for everyone to read, only when you're happy with the result.
Oh, if you are suffering from writer's block, this little tool might help you kick-start your inner author.
In the meantime, don't forget to read others' stories, leave (constructive) comments and (fair) ratings.
Launched!

The site is finally up!
After a few weeks of tinkering, brain-racking, self-management, I'm finally making Bookworm publicly available.
Of course, the real work of filling this space with life has only just begun. But that's half (or so) the fun, isn't it?!
On a side note: I'm not usually one to look for new productivity tools, but during my work on Bookworm, I came across one that has helped me tremendously. Check out Remember the Milk.
